What's New in MicroStrategy 2020

As a new platform release, MicroStrategy 2020 introduces new features that provide better performance and scalability to enhance the overall user experience. In addition, this release introduces new features across the analytics, mobility, and security platform - making it easier for users to build applications faster.

Below are the new features exclusive to MicroStrategy 2020 and its subsequent updates. For a smooth upgrade, be sure to review the important version-specific information regarding changes in the release that could impact functionality and performance. For customers with an upgrade gap of more than one version, the Readme for all intermediate versions can be found in the Learning Center.

Security

MicroStrategy HyperIntelligence

HyperIntelligence for Web

  • Seamlessly re-authenticate without credentials when using a Single Sign-On mechanism like SAML.
  • Administrators can use whitelisting to only allow users to view cards on specified websites.
  • Auto-refresh displays the latest cards available in your environment and ensures new data published to your cube is immediately used to find card matches.

HyperIntelligence for Mobile

  • Use the QR code and barcode scanner to view cards on both iOS and Android.
  • Improved download speed of card data on iOS.

HyperIntelligence for Office

  • Support for Kerberos and Trusted authentication.

  • View the object type, ID, date created, location, and description of data sources.
  • Import attribute forms in reports to separate grid columns.
  • Remove subtotals and totals when importing report data.

MicroStrategy Workstation

  • Support for Trusted authentication with special configurations.
  • Dossier authoring enhancements, including:

    • New context menu options to move, copy, or duplicate images, text boxes, and HTML containers. You can access these context menu options from each container, as well as the Layers panel, which makes it easier to move, copy, or duplicate containers in free-form layout.
    • When using free-form layout, you can choose targets for element/value filters and attribute/metric selectors in the Layers panel. In addition, you can choose the attribute or metric for replacement in an attribute/metric selector.
  • Updated default values for cache governing settings.
  • The following application governing settings are being retired. The settings will remain available, but will not take effect if the value is set below the default value. See, Server-Side Behavior Changes for Cache Settings for more information.

MicroStrategy Web

  • The Allow URLs to Export setting allows administrator's to specify the only URLs and URL paths that can be exported.
  • Dossier authoring enhancements, including:
    • New context menu options to move, copy, or duplicate images, text boxes, and HTML containers. You can access these context menu options from each container, as well as the Layers panel, which makes it easier to move, copy, or duplicate containers in free-form layout.
