MicroStrategy ONE

Developer Preferences: Object Template category, General preferences

Object templates are a predefined structure for creating a new object. To use object templates for a particular type of object (such as metric or report), object templates must be enabled for that object type.

If you disable object templates for an object type (such as metrics or reports), the New Object dialog box, which displays object templates, does not appear when you create an object of that type. The default object template is used automatically; if a default has not been defined for this object type, the empty object template is used. For details about the default object template and the empty object template, see Object templates at the project level.

Disabling object templates for reports also disables object templates for Intelligent Cubes. In addition, users cannot create reports that access Intelligent Cubes, MDX sources, or Freeform Sources, or Intelligent Cubes that access MDX sources or Freeform Sources.

The Object Template category, General preferences dialog box lists the following object types:

  • Report (which also affects object templates for Intelligent Cubes)

  • Filter

  • Template

  • Metric

  • Custom Group

  • Consolidation

  • Document

To enable object templates for a specific object type, select the check box in front of its name.

To disable object templates for a specific object type, clear the check box in front of its name.
