Enabling templates for HTML documents project-wide

Use the following steps to enable the use of templates when creating HTML documents. The templates and other functionality enabled will be available across the project.

Prerequisites

  • You must have Developer privileges to enable templates for use during HTML document creation. These steps include the second half of the procedure below.

  • A Project Designer or Administrator, or someone with privileges specifically for using the Project Configuration functionality, must perform the first half of the following steps to create a default project directory and a templates folder.

To enable templates for HTML documents project-wide

  1. From the Administration menu, point to Projects, and then choose Project Configuration. The Project Configuration Wizard opens.

  2. Expand Project definition and select Advanced.

  3. To set a default directory for HTML documents, browse to an HTML document directory.

  4. Create a folder named "Templates" in the default HTML document directory.

The name of this folder must be "Templates".

  5. Place any layout templates in the Templates folder.

  6. From the Tools menu, select My Preferences. The My Preferences dialog box opens.

  7. Expand Editors category and select HTML Document. The Editors - HTML Document dialog box opens.

  8. Select the Show 'Select Layout Template' dialog check box. This causes the Select Layout Template dialog box to be displayed whenever you create a new HTML document, so you can select from a set of templates on which to base your new HTML document.

  9. Select the Display HTML update messages check box to see update messages whenever the HTML in an HTML document has been changed.

  10. Browse to select a default XSL file for HTML documents. This XSL file contains the reports that are embedded in HTML documents. The default file will be displayed for all new HTML documents that are created, but it can be overridden for individual HTML documents.

  11. Click OK to save your settings and close the HTML Document Options dialog box.

  12. Click OK to close the My Preferences dialog box.
