About shortcuts and the Shortcut Bar

If you are designing or creating a report or any report objects, and you have access to object editors, you can add shortcuts, and groups of shortcuts (shortcut groups) to the Shortcut Bar. The default Shortcut Bar is shown below:

Default Shortcut Bar, showing Tutorial Shortcuts (Tutorial, My Reports, and so on)

The Shortcut Bar contains icons that are one-click shortcuts to your most commonly used folders such as My Personal Objects, Public Objects, Data Explorer, and Administration. Shortcut groups are represented by the gray bar above a group of icons (shortcuts). The Shortcut Bar can be displayed in most editors.

By adding, removing, or renaming shortcuts and shortcut groups, you can customize the Shortcut Bar for your own needs.

These shortcuts represent folders only. This is in contrast to shortcut objects, which behave like individual objects. Shortcut objects link to objects and are saved in folders. While shortcut objects can link to folders, they can also link to a specific report, filter, metric, and so on.

For a more detailed description of shortcut objects, and instructions to create them, see About shortcut objects.
