Customizing object display and object details in MicroStrategy Developer

You can designate which objects are displayed on the right side of MicroStrategy Developer. For example, you can decide to only display those objects for which you have Read and Write access, only those objects for which you are the Owner, and so on. You can also choose to display hidden objects.

You can also designate what details for each object are displayed, such as the object's Owner, the Access type that is granted to you for each object, and so on.

If you have privileges to access the Report Editor and other object editors, these settings also affect the object display in each editor's Object Browser.

To customize object display and object details in MicroStrategy Developer

  1. In MicroStrategy Developer, from the Tools menu, select DeveloperPreferences. The MicroStrategy Developer Preferences dialog box opens.

  2. Expand the Developer category, if it is not already open, and click Browsing.

  3. In the Headers area, select the information that you want to see for each object displayed in various areas of MicroStrategy Developer. For example, you might display the Modification Time for each object if it is important to you to see objects updated after a certain date.

To see your selected details in the area on the right side of the Folder List in MicroStrategy Developer, after you complete this procedure, click the View menu in MicroStrategy Developer and select Details.

  4. In the Access Control area, choose whether you want MicroStrategy Developer to:

    •  Display all objects

    • Display only objects with at least the following rights. Next, select the access rights, as described below:

      • Use Execute: Displays the objects which you have permission to reference (or "use") when creating or modifying other objects such as reports or documents, and rights to execute reports or documents that reference this object.

      • Read: Displays the objects for which you have permission to view the object's definition and access control list (ACL).

      • Write: Displays the objects for which you have permission to modify the object's definition, but not the object's access control list (ACL).

      • Delete: Displays the objects which you have permission to delete.

      • Control: Displays the objects for which you have permission to modify the access control list or take ownership of.

  1. To display hidden objects, select the Display hidden objects check box.

  2. Click OK to save your changes and return to MicroStrategy Developer.
