Export Options: Advanced Options for Exporting to Excel

The Advanced Options for Exporting to Excel dialog box contains the following sections:

This dialog box is accessed from the My Preferences dialog box (My Preferences: Export category), and these default settings are applied to all reports in a project. They can be overridden at the report level, by accessing the Export Options dialog box for that particular report.

Location

Select where in the Excel spreadsheet to export the report to:

  • Worksheet: The name of the worksheet to export the report to.

  • Start: The column and row of the worksheet to export the first value of the report to.

  • End: The column and row of the worksheet to export the last value of the report to.

Formatting

Select how to determine the column formatting options to apply when the report is exported to an Excel spreadsheet:

  • Columns: Specify how the column width of the Excel spreadsheet is determined:

  • Rows: Specify how the row heights are determined:

Other

Select one of the following to specify where the data will be exported in the Excel spreadsheet:

  • Export to cursor: If an Excel spreadsheet is open, the report is exported to the location of the cursor. If an Excel spreadsheet is not open, a new Excel spreadsheet is created, and the report is exported into it.

  • Export to new sheet: If an Excel spreadsheet is open, the report is exported to a new worksheet added to the spreadsheet. If an Excel spreadsheet is not open, a new Excel spreadsheet is created, and the report is exported into it.

  • Export each page to a separate worksheet: A new Excel spreadsheet is created, and each page of the report is exported to its own worksheet in the spreadsheet. Each worksheet is named for the page (such as Central and Northeast for a report paged by Region).

Error handling

  • Cancel exporting if worksheet not found: Allows you to specify that the exporting should be cancelled if the specified worksheet is not found.

  • Cancel exporting if pre-macro fails: Allows you to specify that the exporting should be cancelled if the pre-macro (a macro assigned to run before the report is exported) fails.

  • Cancel exporting if post-macro fails: Allows you to specify that the exporting should be cancelled if the post-macro (a macro assigned to run after the report is exported) fails.
