Interactive Grid Dialog Box

You can specify display options for an Interactive Grid widget, such as how to size columns or whether to apply banding to rows in the widget, using the Interactive Grid dialog box. For detailed steps to design an Interactive Grid widget for display on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device with MicroStrategy Mobile, see the Designing Reports and Documents for iOS and Android Devices chapter in the MicroStrategy Mobile Administration Help.

To access the Interactive Grid dialog box

  1. In Design Mode or Editable Mode, right-click the Interactive Grid widget and select Properties and Formatting.
  2. From the left, select Widget.
  3. Click the Widget Properties button Widget Properties button.

Choose the following options:

  • Apply Grouping To: Select this checkbox to allow users to group the data displayed in the widget (default). The first attribute on the widget's Grid/Graph is automatically used to group the data when the widget is viewed.
  • Grouping Background: You can change the background color used to display the attribute elements in the grouping when the widget is displayed on a mobile device. From the drop-down list, select the color you want to use as the background. To remove the grouping background you applied, select No Fill. (Available if the Apply Grouping To option is selected.)
  • Grouping Font Size: You can change the font size used to display the attribute elements in the grouping when the widget is displayed on a mobile device. From the drop-down list, select the size of the font you want to use. (Available if the Apply Grouping To option is selected.)
  • Header Font Size: You can change the font size used to display the column headings of the Interactive Grid. From the drop-down list, select the font size that you want to use.
  • Values Font Size: You can change the font size used to display the data in the Interactive Grid. From the drop-down list, select the font size that you want to use.
  • Default Action Form: You can select a default action to perform (such as drilling on an attribute, opening a report or document, or acting as a selector) for attributes and metrics that have no action defined on the widget's Grid/Graph. Select an attribute. The action defined for this attribute will automatically be performed when a user taps a value in the widget for which no action is explicitly defined.
  • Color Theme: Select a color theme to use to display the background color, border color, and header color of the widget.
  • Banding: Determine whether to apply banding to rows in the widget. This checkbox is cleared by default.
  • Automatic Column Sizing: Determine whether to automatically size columns in the widget. This checkbox is selected by default.
  • The bottom pane contains a preview of each column displayed in the widget, with the names of report objects grouped by the column in which they will be displayed when the user views the widget on a mobile device. You can specify formatting options for these columns using the following options:

    • Toggle: If you place multiple attributes or metrics in a column, you can choose whether to display each attribute element or metric value stacked together in a single row in the widget, or to allow the user to tap the header of a column to change which attribute or metric value is displayed. Select this checkbox for each column for which you want to allow users to tap a column header to change which object is displayed. Clear the checkbox for each column for which you want to display each report object in the column as stacked values in a single row. Column headers are not displayed when values are displayed as stacked.
    • Width (%): Specify the width of each column as a percentage. The widths for all columns should add up to 100. This option is available when the Automatic Column Sizing checkbox is cleared.
    • Add Column: Add a new column to the list.

You can drag a report object from one column to another to change the column in which the report object is displayed. To delete a column, click the x icon to the right of the column name. The first two columns in the widget are added to the widget by default and cannot be deleted.
