MicroStrategy ONE

Report Editor: Layout

The Report Editor contains the following areas:

  • Menu bar: Shows the menus that provide the various functionality options for this editor.

  • Toolbar: Displays icons for the primary tools available from the menus, allowing quick access to your most commonly used functionality. Display or hide toolbars by selecting them from the View menu.

  • Object Browser: Provides a place to search for, locate, and select objects that are part of the project. A primary tool when creating or modifying reports or independent report objects. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

  • Shortcut Bar: Contains shortcut icons to commonly used folders such as My Personal Objects, Public Objects, and Attributes in the default group displayed as My Shortcuts. You can also customize the Shortcut Bar by adding, renaming, and deleting groups and folders. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

The Shortcut Bar cannot be displayed unless the Object Browser is displayed.

  • Template definition: Provides the framework for displaying the headings and value cells of the objects selected for a report.

  • Report Filter definition: Opens the Report Filter pane. Double-click the Filter icon in the Report Filter pane to create a filter for the report. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

  • Report Objects: You must have the MicroStrategy OLAP Services product to see the Report Objects pane. Shows the components (attributes, attribute forms, metrics, custom groups, consolidations, and so on) included in a given report. This pane, therefore, shows the objects that are added to the report definition, even if they are not added to the layout of the report. In other words, all objects included in the Report Objects pane are included in the SQL that is generated when the report is first executed; moreover, all data is stored in the cache associated with the report. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

  • View Filter: Allows dynamic modification to and redisplay of current report components. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

  • Page-by: Optional display. Allows you to select and display subsets of the report's data as separate pages. Display or hide this pane from the View menu.

The Report Editor shares most of its functionality with the Template Editor.
