 It allows you to:

  • Enable caching for a specific report even though caching is disabled at the project level

  • Disable caching for a specific report even though report caching is enabled at the project level

  • Select a subscription to invalidate this report's cache

Accessing the Report Caching Options dialog box

In the Report Editor or Report Viewer, select Report Caching Options from the Data menu.

Report Caching Options dialog box contents

The dialog box provides the following options for report caching:

  • Enabled: This report should be cached: Regardless of the project-level caching setting, this report is always cached.

  • Disabled: This report should not be cached: Regardless of the project-level caching setting, this report is never cached.

  • Allow mobile devices to cache data temporarily to optimize performance: Available only if report caching is disabled with the option above. When selected, mobile devices can cache data temporarily, even if the report should always be executed to retrieve the latest data. This can help performance on the mobile device. By default, this option is selected.

  • Use default project-level behavior: The report uses the cache settings configured at the project level in the Project Configuration Editor. Those settings include Enable report server caching, Enable prompted report caching, Enable non-prompted report caching, and so on. This is the default option.

  • Cache expiration options: The following options relate to expiring and invalidating the report cache.

  • Do not expire cache: If this option is selected, the cache for this report does not automatically expire after a certain amount of time (specified in the Project Configuration Editor) .

  • Invalidate cache on schedule: Select a schedule from this drop-down list to use to invalidate this report's cache. For instructions to invalidate caches, see Invalidating result caches in the System Administration Help.

  • Search for dependent subscriptions: Click to view a list of all subscriptions to this report.
