Viewing VLDB properties for a report

System-level conditions for any given report are recorded as part of that report's VLDB properties and can be viewed, either in summarized form or in detail, from the Report Editor. The procedure that follows describes how to see VLDB property information.

To view VLDB properties for a report

  1. Open the desired report in the Report Editor. (How?)

  2. Select Data/VLDB Properties. The VLDB Properties Editor opens.

Summary:

  1. To view a summary of the system components that contain VLDB properties for a given report, select one of the system-level folders displayed under the VLDB Settings headings to view a summary of the properties listed for that folder. Expand the folder to see what VLDB properties have been applied to that part of the system.

  2. To set VLDB properties to their default system values, click Set All Values to Default on the dialog window toolbar, and click Yes when you see the message Are you sure you want to set all VLDB settings to default values?

Details:

  1. To view current VLDB settings for a given report, click Tools/Create VLDB Settings Report.

  2. To view the actual commands corresponding to each setting (for example, the physical name for Display Null On Top could be (DisplayNULLOnTop0)), select the box corresponding to Show physical setting names.

  3. To see what the setting actually means to the system (for example, the setting-value description for Intermediate Table Index = 0 could be (Don't create an index)), select the box corresponding to Show descriptions of setting values.

  4. To view only non-default settings for the report, select the box corresponding to Do not show settings with default values.

  5. Click Save and Close to save your changes and return to the Report Editor.
