MicroStrategy ONE

Document Properties dialog box: Advanced

The Advanced section of the Document Properties dialog box contains the following document properties, which affect the entire document, including all layouts of a multi-layout document:

Layout property

  • Show single layout tab: displays a layout tab if the document contains only a single layout. An Add a New Layout icon displays next to the layout tab, allowing you to quickly insert another layout to create a multi-layout document.

Panel Stack (DHTML Only) property

  • Pre-load: determines how the panels in panel stacks are loaded in MicroStrategy Web when DHTML is enabled. For details on panel loading, see Loading panels on demand in MicroStrategy Web. The options are:

  • All panels of all panel stacks: Loads all panels of all the panel stacks in the document when the document is executed in MicroStrategy Web.

  • Current panel only of all panel stacks: Loads only the first panel (the current panel) of all the panel stacks in the document when the document is executed in MicroStrategy Web; other panels are loaded when the user requests them.

Data properties

  •

  • Trim the sections for which no data was available (this applies only to metric values): removes (trims) any Detail, Group Header, or Group Footer sections that do not return data in metric values. By default, the check box is cleared.

A cross join between datasets can result in rows or Group Header/Footer sections that do not have metric data. For example, a document contains two dataset reports. Dataset 1 contains Year and Revenue, with data for three years (2026-2028). Dataset 2 contains Year and Profit, filtered to return data for only two years (2027 and 2028). If you place Year and Profit in the Details and execute the document, it displays three rows, although no profit data exists for 2026. This is a product of the cross join between the two datasets. You do not want to see the blank line for 2026 since it does not give you any data for profit. You can select the Trim the sections for which no data was available (this applies only to metric values) check box. This removes the row for 2026, since no metric data for Profit is available for 2026. For samples of this document, see Removing sections that do not have metric data.

  • Remove the groups that contain null elements: removes any grouping elements that are displayed only because of a cross join between datasets. By default, this check box is selected. This check box is unavailable and cannot be cleared when If the Trim the section for which no data was available check box is selected.

A cross join between datasets can result in rows that contain null values. For example, a document contains two dataset reports. Dataset 1 contains Region and Revenue, filtered to display Northeast and Northwest only. Dataset 2 contains Year and Profit. Data for three years (2026-2028) is available. The document contains Region, Revenue, Year, and Profit in the Detail section. Three rows are displayed.

    Group
the document by Region. Only two rows are displayed, one containing data for Northeast and 2026, the other for Northwest and 2027. Data for 2028 is not displayed, because by default, the Remove the groups that contain null elements check box is selected. To display that row, clear the Remove the groups that contain null elements check box. Three rows once again displayed: Northeast/2026, Northwest/2027, and 2028. For samples of this document, see Displaying grouping elements that contain null values.

Report Details properties

Click Format to configure various auto text codes, which are document or dataset variable information. These properties do not affect the formatting of the text field (such as the font name or background color), but rather what is displayed in the text field. For example, you can select whether to include view filter information or the attribute name in a report filter details auto text code. When you click Format, the Report Details Properties dialog box opens. For more information on configuring auto text codes, including procedures, see Configuring auto text codes.
