Document Editor: Save Options dialog box

The Save Options dialog box is accessed when you save a prompted document after answering the prompts. It allows you to set whether your current prompt answers are saved as part of the document definition. A document does not itself contain prompts, but a document can include datasets that have prompts. Choices made in this dialog box do not affect the dataset reports that contain the actual prompts.

Accessing the Save Options dialog box

When you save a prompted document, the Save Options dialog box opens. You can save a document by selecting Save on the File menu or clicking Save and Close on the toolbar.

Save Options dialog box contents

Select one of the following options for saving the prompts for the document:

  • Display prompt and use the current prompt answers as the default answers: Your last prompt answers are saved in the document definition. When the document is executed again, the prompts are displayed, with the defaults set to the saved answers.

  • Display prompt but discard the current prompt answers: Your last prompt answers are not saved in the document definition. When the document is executed again, the prompts are displayed in their original form.

  • Do not display and use the current prompt answers as the default answers: Your last prompt answers are saved in the document definition. When the document is executed again, the prompts are not displayed. The saved answers are used to resolve the prompts.

If you want to change the answers later, save the document. The Save Options dialog box opens and you can change the setting to one of the other options.

By default, the Discard prompt answers setting is chosen. If you select the Remember options next time check box, your settings are saved and redisplayed when you save the document again.
