MicroStrategy ONE

Document Properties dialog box: Caching

When document caching is enabled, the document is only generated the first time each format (such as PDF) is requested in MicroStrategy Web. Subsequent requests for the same format use the cache, increasing the number of documents that can be executed concurrently and reducing memory consumption.

You define the document caching options in MicroStrategy Developer, but documents are cached when they are executed or exported in MicroStrategy Web. MicroStrategy Developer does not cache documents.

Select one of the following document caching options:

  • Disable document caching

If you disable document caching, you can select or clear Allow mobile devices to cache data temporarily to optimize performance. When selected, mobile devices can cache data temporarily, even if the document should always be executed to retrieve the latest data. This can help performance on the mobile device. By default, this option is selected.

  • Enable document caching

Once you enable document caching, select which formats to cache from the following list:

    • Excel

    • HTML

    • PDF

    • XML

  • Use default project-level behavior

By default, a cache is not created for every page-by combination that could be run, since that could be very memory-intensive. For example, a separate cache would be created for each region of a document paged by Region. However, you can change that behavior by selecting the Create cache when page-by selections are modified check box. When this check box is selected, caches are also created when a different item is chosen in a selector or when a user interacts with a widget. For more information and instructions, see Caching documents by page; for information on page-by in general, see Using page-by on a document.
