MicroStrategy ONE

Report Data Options dialog box: Advanced

This subcategory allows you to save the page-by settings for a report and save any modifications to a prompted report after executing the report, as described below:

  • Retain page-by selections when you save this report: Allows you to clear or retain page-by element settings when the report is saved. You can choose one of the following options:

    • Default uses the project-level setting.

    • Yes retains the page-by elements when the report is saved, overriding the project-level setting.

    • No clears the page-by elements when the report is saved, overriding the project-level setting.

  • Always open this report in full screen mode: Allows you to specify whether or not the report is opened in full screen mode in MicroStrategy Web. Full screen mode hides all of the menus, toolbars, and panels except the Standard toolbar and the Page-by field. By hiding these tools, you can focus attention on the data itself and maximize the amount of the report that can be shown at one time.

  • When saving a report as prompted, revert to the original prompted objects on the template. Changes made to the template will be lost: This check box is displayed only if it was selected for this report in a previous version of MicroStrategy (8.1.x and earlier), to ensure that prompted objects are not embedded in the template. In MicroStrategy 9.0 and later, prompted objects on the template are not embedded in the template when the prompts are answered, so this setting is no longer used.

If you clear the check box and save the report, the check box is not displayed when you open the report again and you cannot change the setting.

For example, a report contains a prompted metric. When the report is executed, the user answers the prompt. The user moves the prompted metric from the column to the row, then saves the report as a prompted report (for instructions, see Saving a prompted report).

  • In MicroStrategy 8.1.x or earlier:

  • If this check box was cleared, the saved report displayed the metric as a row. However, the metric was embedded in the template. An embedded metric means that changes to the original metric were not propagated to the metric on the report.

  • If the check box was selected, the saved report retained the link to the prompted metric, but the metric displayed as a column rather than a row.

  • In MicroStrategy 9.0 and later:

  • If the check box is cleared, or the option does not appear, the saved report retains its link to the prompted metric and the metric correctly displays as a row. This is the recommended setting.

  • If this check box is selected, the saved report retains its link to the prompted metric, but the metric displays as a column rather than a row.
