Strategy ONE

General Section of the Properties and Formatting Dialog

Use the General section of the Properties and Formatting dialog to modify the basic properties of a control.

Access

  1. Open a document in Design or Editable Mode.
  2. Right-click a control and choose Properties and Formatting.
  3. In the left pane, choose General.

Fields

General

Name Enter the name of the control.

Type The type of control.

Display Text The text to display on the button of an action condition selector. This option is only available for action condition selectors.

Tooltip The text that aopears when a user hovers over the control.

Visible Select to make the control is visible when a user views the document.

Navigation

The following options are available for text fields and images.

Is hyperlink Specifies whether the control is a hyperlink to the location specified in the Hyperlink property.

Hyperlink The destination of the hyperlink.

Open in new window Specifies whether the hyperlink opens in the same window as the current document or in a new window.

Information Windows

The following option is available for text fields, images, and buttons.

Panel Stack Determines the panel stack that appears as an Information window when a user clicks the object in presentation mode, or taps the object on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Use an Information window to provide additional information about the selected object.

Portal Window

The following options are available for grids or graphs.

Show Title Bar Select this option to show the title bar.

Title The name of the dataset that appears in the title bar.

Display State Select a display height of Normal, Minimized, or Maximized. Only the Normal option allows you to resize the grid or graph.

Show export options on title bar Determine whether to display options for exporting the grid or graph in the title bar by choosing Automatic, Yes, or No.

Mobile

Set application badge to value of this field Determine whether the value of the text field is used to update the numeric badge that appears next to the MicroStrategy Mobile application icon on a user's mobile device each time the document runs. See the Strategy Mobile Administration Help for more information on determining how the numeric badge appears.

Copy (iOS only)

Choose whether to allow users to copy text fields or use the document-level behavior when the document appears on an iPhone or iPad..

Selector

Show Title Bar Select whether or not to display the title bar.

Title Enter the text that appears in the title bar.

Show Element Count Select this option to display the number of selector items (the elements) in the selector title bar.

Panel Stack

The following options are available for mobile transaction tables and panel stacks, including filter panels.

This section is labeled Display Mode for mobile transaction tables.

Show Title Bar Select this option to show the title bar of a control.

Allow current panel to be changed without selector Select this checkbox to display the Previous and Next icons in the panel stack's title bar, to allow users to select and display different panels without using a selector.

In a document that appears on an iPad with MicroStrategy Mobile, select this option to allow users to switch between panels in a panel stack using a horizontal swipe gesture.

This option is not available for transaction tables.

Use as Information Window Select this option to display a panel stack as an Information window on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, or in presentation mode in MicroStrategy Workstation. Selecting this option also displays a transaction table as Information window when a users taps on an object.

Placement Select the location of an Information window in MicroStrategy Workstation. If the Window mode is set to Appear, this is the location on an iPad with MicroStrategy Mobile.

  • Automatic Displays the window in the best position available to optimize the display of your dashboard.
  • Fixed The window appears at the same position as the panel stack.
  • Above The window appears above the selected object (for example, the item in the selector or the attribute in the grid)
  • Below The window appears below the selected object.
  • Left The window appears to the left of the selected object.
  • Right The window appears to the right of the selected object.

Window mode Specifies how to open the Information window on an iPad with MicroStrategy Mobile.

  • Appear The window pops up.
  • Flip Up The window flips open, like a card turning over.
  • Scale Up The window gradually increases in size.
  • Slide The Window slides into view from an edge of the screen.

Position Specifies which edge to slide the Information window from, if Slide is selected as the Window mode. Applies to iPads with MicroStrategy Mobile. Determines how users close the Information window on an iPad with MicroStrategy Mobile. This option does not apply to transaction tables.

  • If the checkbox is cleared, a user taps outside of the Information window to close it.
  • If the checkbox is selected, a user taps the Close button to close the Information Window.

Dismiss in partial screen per panel stack size on mobile phone Information Windows on an iPhone fill the screen when they display by default. To scale the Information window so it is the same size on the iPhone as it is in Workstation, select this option. Information windows on an iPad automatically scale so they are the same size as in Workstation. If you selected Slide as the window mode, you can specify how much of the Information window initially displays. Users can then drag the Information window on their iPhone screen to view the rest of the Information Window.

  • If you selected Right or Left as the Information window's position, specify how much of the Information Window's left or right side displays, respectively. Type the value, in inches, in the Initial sliding in width field. To display the full Information window, enter 0.
  • If you selected Above or Below as the Information window's position, specify how much of the Information window's bottom or top side displays, respectively. Type the value, in inches, in the Initial sliding in height field. To display the full Information Window, enter 0.

Show as collapsible panel (Mobile only) Determines whether each filter in the filter panel is collapsible.

Reset to first panel when targeted Determines whether the panel stack resets to the first panel when an attribute selector that targets the panel stack is changed. Resetting the panel stack helps reduce the number of taps for users. Applies to an iPad with MicroStrategy Mobile, or a panel stack used as an Information window in presentation mode. This option does not apply to transaction tables. The panel stack must be targeted by an attribute or metric selector. See the Strategy Mobile Administration Help. for more information about using panel stacks as Information windows.

Automatically apply selector changes This option is available for filter panels. Determines whether users have to click Apply to see the changes that they made to the selectors on the filter panel or the changes are made automatically.

Title Select whether to display the Current Panel Name or specify a Custom Title in the title bar.

Custom Title Specify a custom title for the title bar.

Pre-load (DHTML only) settings Determines which panels in a panel stack pre-load when the document is executed in MicroStrategy Workstation. This option does not apply to transaction tables.
