Controlling horizontal overflow

If the controls on a document extend beyond the width of a single page, the excess controls (the overflow) are printed on the next sheet of paper. You can change this default setting to allow the overflow to print on the same page. In other words, instead of printing the controls left to right on multiple pages, the controls are printed immediately below each other on the same page. The Horizontal Fit: Overflow setting controls this behavior. Compare this feature with Repeat horizontally.

For an example, refer to the Document Creation Help.

You can specify a different Horizontal Fit: Overflow setting for each layout of a multi-layout document.

To control horizontal overflow

  1. Open the document in the Document Editor. How?

  2. If the document contains multiple layouts, click the tab of the layout to format.

  3. From the File menu, select Page Setup. The Page Setup dialog box opens.

  4. Click Page.

  5. In the Horizontal fit area, select an Overflow setting from the drop-down list:

    • Next page: horizontal overflow is printed on the next page

    • Below: horizontal overflow is printed on the same page

  6. Click OK to return to the Document Editor.
