Formatting single-color backgrounds of selector containers

Both the Formatting toolbar and the right-click menu provide easy access to quickly apply a single background color to the container of a selector. (The container displays the selector items, while the title bar displays above the container, as shown in Formatting selectors.) For instructions to format backgrounds for the title bar, see Formatting title bars of selectors.

To use a gradient (a two-color combination) for the background, or to define the color of selected items, you must use either the Property List or the Format Objects dialog box. For instructions, see Formatting the backgrounds of selectors.

Prerequisite

This procedure assumes you have added a selector to the document. For instructions, see Inserting selectors into documents.

To format a single-color selector background of a selector container

  1. Open the document to be formatted in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Right-click the selector, point to Fill, and then select a background color.

    • Select the selector. Click the arrow next to the Fill icon on the Formatting toolbar, and select a background color from the drop-down list.
