Steps to set column width/row height manually (Fixed mode)

Fixed Column Width Mode (or Fixed Mode) allows you to size a report's columns or rows by defining a specific number of pixels. You can set individual columns to a fixed width or individual rows to a fixed height, or you can make all columns a fixed width. You can also specify the number of pixels to be used for column width and/or row height.

When a report using Automatic Column Widths is reset to Fixed, all row heights from the row axis are preserved. Column widths are based on the maximum width of each column's data.

  1. Run a report. (How?)

  2. On the Grid menu, select Options. The Grid Options dialog box opens.

  3. On the Columns and Rows tab, select Fixed.

  4. From the drop-down list, select the type of width to specify:

    • All Columns to set the width of all the columns on the report.

    • All Row Axis to set the height for the rows on the row axis (usually attribute forms are displayed in rows).

    • All Grid to set the width of the columns (usually metrics are displayed in columns).

    • Attribute form name to set the height for the specified attribute form. Each attribute form in the report is listed so that you can select the attribute form whose height you want to set.

    • Metrics to set the width of the column where the word "Metrics" appears. The word "Metrics" may be hidden.

    • Metric name to set the column width for a specific metric. Each metric in the report is listed so that you can select the metric whose width you want to set. All instances of this metric use this width, including those placed in the page-by axis, if any.

  5. Enter the column width in Pixels.

  6. If you want to determine row heights, select one of the following row height settings:

    • Auto Row Height to allow row heights to be determined automatically.

    • Fixed Row Height to specify the height of the rows. Enter the number of Pixels for the row height.

If both column widths and row heights are fixed, column width is applied first and then row height.

  1. Click OK. You are returned to the report.

  2. You can continue to adjust column widths while looking at the report. Column handles appear at the top of a report's columns after you perform the steps above. Simply hover your cursor over a handle and drag the handle left or right. For images displaying the column handles on a report and the cursor hovered over a handle, see Steps to resize a column using sizing handles.
