Selecting multiple controls simultaneously

This procedure allows you to select multiple controls simultaneously, to work with them at the same time. For example, you could move or align them.

In the My Preferences dialog box, you can select whether the selection box must touch the controls or fully enclose them to select the controls.

To select multiple controls simultaneously

  1. Open a document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Do one of the following:

    • CTRL+click: Hold down the CTRL key while you click each control.

    • Drag a selection box: Click in an empty area of a document section. Drag a box that touches the controls to be selected, then release the mouse button. (The box automatically appears when you start dragging.) The box can span multiple document sections.

You can specify whether the selection box needs to partially or fully enclose controls when you select them. This preference is set in the My Preferences dialog box. For more information, see Setting grid alignment preferences for documents.

  3. The selected controls are displayed with red sizing handles. If you accidentally selected a control that you do not want to select, point to the control and use CTRL+click again.
