Evenly distributing controls on documents

If you have several controls that are not spaced very well, the Document Editor can distribute them evenly.

  • The controls can be spaced vertically or horizontally.

  • The controls can be spaced relative to each other, or relative to the layout.

  • Controls distributed relative to each other use the space between the controls.

  • Controls distributed relative to the layout use the width or height of the layout.

For examples of distributing controls, refer to the Document Creation Help.

To distribute controls

  1. Open the document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Select at least three controls. (How?)

  3. To distribute the controls relative to the size of the layout, rather than relative to each other, right-click the selected controls, point to Distribute, and select Relative to Layout.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • Right-click the controls, point to Distribute, then select an option.

    • From the Format menu, select Distribute, then select an option.

    • The alignment options are described below.

  5. Horizontal evenly spaces the selected controls across the width of the page.

  6. Vertical evenly spaces the selected controls across the length of the section.
