Moving controls on documents

To specify where controls appear in the document when it is viewed as a PDF, you can move controls within the Layout area.

You can even move controls across document sections. If multiple controls are selected, they move as a block. That is, the space between them does not change, and the top of the leftmost control in the selection defines the new location of the controls.

To move a control

  1. Open the document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Select a control or multiple controls. How to select multiple controls

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Drag the controls to a new location: Select the controls, then drag and drop them at the location that you want.

If a selected control does not move, it may be locked. A locked control cannot be resized or moved on the Layout area. For more information and instructions, see Locking and unlocking controls.

    • Nudge the controls slightly: Select the controls. From the Format menu, point to Nudge, then select the option for the direction you want to move them (Up, Down, Left, or Right).

    • Specify the left and top position of a control: Select the control. In the Property List, type the Left and Top positions, then press ENTER.

    • Align controls with each other
