Advanced Options for Exporting to Word

The Advanced Options for Exporting to Word dialog box contains the following options:

Formatting

  • Fit all columns: Allows you to specify that the report data should fit into the document's width.

  • Insert page breaks before each PageBy unit: Allows you to specify that a page break should be inserted before each PageBy section of data. This option is useful to select when you have selected the Expand all page fields when exporting data check box on the General tab in the Export Options dialog box. Inserting the page break insures that large quantities of report data are logically broken up in Word, by page, according to how page-by fields are assigned in the original report. For background information on page-by, see Adding pages.

Error handling

  • Cancel exporting if pre-macro fails: Allows you to specify that the exporting should be cancelled if the pre-macro (a macro assigned to run before the report is exported) fails.

  • Cancel exporting if post-macro fails: Allows you to specify that the exporting should be cancelled if the post-macro (a macro assigned to run after the report is exported) fails.

  • If the specified bookmark is not found:

  • Cancel exporting: Allows you to specify that the export process should be cancelled if the specified bookmark is not found. For example, you can specify bookmarks in Word to designate the location in which a grid is exported; this setting allows you to specify what occurs if a bookmark is not found when the report is exported. If you choose not to cancel the export in this case (if the Cancel exportingcheck box is cleared), you can then decide from the following options where the export should begin or end:

  • Export at the beginning of the document: Allows you to specify that the report data should be exported to the beginning of the document if the specified bookmark is not found.

  • Export at the end of the document: Allows you to specify that the report data should be exported to the end of the document if the specified bookmark is not found.

  • Create the bookmark at that location: Allows you to specify that the bookmark should be created where the document is exported if the specified bookmark is not found. This is available only if the Cancel exportingcheck box is cleared.

These options apply to the current template or report, overriding the project level defaults. For information about project-level export options, see My Preferences: Advanced Options for Exporting to Word.
