MicroStrategy ONE

Export Options: Appearance tab

The Appearance tab of the Export Options dialog box provides format-specific options for the display of specific report elements (title, details, data, headers, SQL, and formatting).

  • None of the options on this tab are available for Access or PDF file export. If you want to change these options for a PDF or an Access file (for example, if you do not want to export the report details), choose a different export format, update the export options, export the file, and then convert it to an Access or PDF file. High-level instructions to convert it are described below:

  • To create a PDF file, you can export the file to Excel. Ensure that you have Excel's Save as PDF add-in. In Excel, save the file as PDF, which generates the PDF.

  • To create an Access file, you can export the file to Excel and save it. In Access, import the Excel spreadsheet as external data.

  • These options apply to the current template or report, overriding the project level defaults. For information about project-level export options, see My Preferences: Export Options: Appearance tab.

The Exported fields list allows you to:

  • Select which report elements (such as title, details, data, headers, and SQL) are to be exported. To do this, select the report elements in the Exported fields list.

  • Define the order that the report elements are exported. To do this, select a report element in the Exported fields list, and click Up or Down to move the selected element.

You can also select whether to:

  • Format the exported report as the grid report displays in MicroStrategy, by selecting or clearing the Apply formatting check box.

  • If you clear the Apply formatting check box, you can select whether formatting and data, or only data, is exported, by clearing or selecting the Export only the raw data check box. This check box is available only for Excel export.

If you export to Excel and then convert the spreadsheet to a PDF file, report formatting can be retained. If you export to Excel and then convert the spreadsheet to an Access file, report formatting is not retained.

  • Use an Excel layout compatible with MicroStrategy 6.x and earlier by selecting or clearing the Use 6.x layoutcheck box. This option is available only for Excel worksheets.
