Custom Group Options Dialog Box

You can specify options for a custom group, such as the position in which custom group element names are displayed and the way in which the custom group interacts with the report filter, using the Custom Group Options dialog box. You must have the Web Use Custom Group Editor privilege to access the Custom Group Editor.

For an introduction and examples of custom groups, as well as steps to create a custom group, see the Advanced Reporting Help. For information on qualifications in general, see the sections on filters in the Basic Reporting Help and the Advanced Reporting Help.

The following options are available:

  • Enable hierarchical display: Determine whether individual items in a custom group element are displayed indented to the right.
  • Enable subtotals display: Determine whether subtotals can be displayed in the custom group.
  • Position parent header: Determine whether the name of a custom group element is displayed above or below the individual items in the custom group element.
    • Above child items: The name is displayed above the items in the custom group element.
    • Below child items: The name is displayed below the items in the custom group element.
  • Interaction with report filter: When a custom group that uses attribute qualifications is included on a report with a report filter, the report filter is automatically applied to the individual custom group elements. However, if you create a custom group using metric qualifications, report filters are not applied by default to the custom group elements. The following options determine how report filters are applied to custom groups that use metric qualifications:
    • Default (Database instance level): Use the default database instance settings to determine how the custom group elements interact with the report filter.
    • No interaction: Report filter qualifications are not applied to custom groups that use metric qualifications. Filtering is applied only after each custom group element has been evaluated, and the report filter does not determine which data is included in a custom group element.
    • Apply: Report filter qualifications are applied to custom groups, and are used to determine the data included in each custom group element.
    • Apply but ignore related elements: Report filter qualifications are only applied to custom groups if they do not qualify on attributes used to define the custom group. For example, a report filter that qualifies on the Customer attribute is not applied to a custom group that also uses the Customer attribute to define its custom group elements.
  • Preview pane: The Preview pane displays a preview of the custom group when the currently selected options are applied.
