Advanced Color Picker Dialog Box

You can select colors for formatting text, lines, shapes, etc. using the Advanced Color Picker dialog box.

The following options are available:

  • Basic Colors: MicroStrategy provides a set of default colors for you to choose from. Under Basic Colors, click a color to select it.
  • User Palette: You can define your own colors, then add them to the User Palette for easy access. To add a color to the User Palette, first select the color, then click Apply. The color is automatically added to the User Palette.
  • Hex: You can specify a color by providing its hexadecimal code. Type the hexadecimal code in the Hex field.

You can specify a color by providing separate values for the amount of red, green, and blue in the color, as follows:

  • Red: Type a numeric value for the amount of red you want to include in the color. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 255. Larger values represent a color that contains more red.
  • Green: Type a numeric value for the amount of green you want to include in the color. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 255. Larger values represent a color that contains more green.
  • Blue: Type a numeric value for the amount of blue you want to include in the color. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 255. Larger values represent a color that contains more blue.
  • Hue: Type a numeric value for the color's hue. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 359. Larger values represent colors closer to the top of the color slider in the upper right.
  • Saturation: Type a numeric value for the color's saturation. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 100. Larger values represent more saturation.
  • Brightness: Type a numeric value for the color's brightness. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 100. Larger values represent darker colors.

You can browse to and select a color visually. Move the thumb on the slider in the top right. The pane to the left of the slider is updated to display different variations of the same color. You can select a specific color variation by clicking on the color in the pane.

Once you select a color, a preview of the color is displayed in the pane in the lower left. Click OK to accept your selection.
