Select Objects from the Base Project Page

On this page you select the reports, folders, and search objects that you want to test during a project-versus-project or single-project integrity test.

If you select any Intelligent Cube reports, make sure that the Intelligent Cube the reports are based on has been published before you perform the integrity test. Integrity Manager can test the SQL of Intelligent Cubes even if they have not been published, but cannot test Intelligent Cube reports based on an unpublished Intelligent Cube.

This page contains a hierarchical view of all the reports, folders, and search objects in the base project.

  • Report tells Integrity Manager to execute that report during the test.
  • Folder selects all reports and folders in that folder. Since Integrity Manager processes folders recursively, selecting a folder also selects all reports in subfolders contained in that folder.
  • Search object tells Integrity Manager to execute that search object during the test. Any reports returned by the search object are tested like the other reports in the test. Any other items returned by the search object (including folders) are ignored.

For example, you have made a change to the definition of one of your attributes. You can create a search object that returns all objects that use that attribute. You can then execute a test using the results of that search object to ensure that your change has not affected any of your reports.

A search object inside a selected folder is not executed unless either the search object is selected directly or the Process embedded search objects option (see description below) is selected.

Shortcuts to folders, reports, and search objects are treated like their target objects. For example, selecting a search object that returns a shortcut to a report causes that report to be executed during the test.

  • Select the Process embedded search objects check box to process search objects contained inside selected folders and returned by selected search objects. If not selected, only selected search objects are processed.
  • In a project-versus-project integrity test, you must select whether to match reports by Report ID or by name and location in the project:
    • Match by ID: Reports in the two projects with the same Report ID are compared, even if they have been renamed or moved to a different location in one project.
    • Match by Path/Name: Reports in the two projects with the same name and location are compared, even if they have different Report IDs.
  • If you are executing a project-versus-project test, click Advanced Options to select whether to match objects automatically or manually:
    • Match Objects Automatically allows all objects to be automatically matched by either ID or Path/Name, depending on what you select for the Match by option. This is the default option.
    • Match Objects Manually opens the Select Target Objects page. This allows you to compare objects from the base project to objects in the target project. For example, you can compare two reports with different names. Anything that is not mapped will be matched automatically.
  • If you have loaded a previously saved test, click Expand to view folders containing selected objects.
