MicroStrategy ONE

Metric Editor Formula tab: Metric definition

If you select the metric definition itself in the Metric component pane, the Definition pane in the lower part of the dialog box displays the complete metric definition, including the formula and the level, condition, and transformation components.

Define the whole metric, including its components, using MicroStrategy objects, identifiers, delimiters, and functions. For more information, see Metric Editor Formula tab: Identifiers and delimiters and Metric Editor Formula tab: Functions and operators.

The Metric definition pane contains the following, as well as the actual area to define the metric:

  • Click an arithmetic operator on the operator bar to insert the operator into the metric formula. Click f(x) to access the Insert Function Wizard to add a function.

  • Click Validate to confirm that the metric definition is valid for use by the MicroStrategy engine. The validation status is also displayed along the bottom of the pane, shown as a green checkmark when the metric expression is valid or a red X when it is not.

  • Click Clear to delete the entire metric definition and start over.
