MicroStrategy ONE

Consolidation Editor: Right-click options

The right-click options in the Consolidation Editor vary depending on which pane is active:

Right-click options for the Elements for this consolidation pane

When you right-click an object in the Elements for this consolidation pane, you can choose from the following:

  • Add Element: creates a new consolidation element. For instructions and a description of consolidation elements, see Creating consolidation elements.

  • Delete Element: removes the selected element.

  • Rename Element: changes the name of the selected element. Changing the name from the default is recommended because it is displayed on reports. For instructions, see Renaming consolidation elements.

  • Move Up: moves the selected element one level up in the consolidation display.

  • Move Down: moves the selected element one level down in the consolidation display.

  • Import Elements: imports elements from another consolidation, using the Select a Consolidation dialog box and the Import Consolidation Elements dialog box. For instructions and more information, see Importing consolidation elements.

  • Formatting Properties: contains the following options:

  • Element Header: opens the Format Cells dialog box to format the selected element header (that is, the name of the element).

  • Element Values: opens the Format Cells dialog box to format the values of the selected element values (the data values of the element).

  • Clear Element Formatting: restores the default formatting for the element header and values.

  • See Formatting consolidations for procedures and more information.

Right-click options for the Selected Elements pane

If you right-click in the Selected Elements pane, your choices are standard Windows options such as cut and paste. The one exception is Validate, which confirms that the expression is valid for use by the MicroStrategy engine. For a procedure and more details on the validation process, see Validating consolidation elements.

Right-click options for the Object Browser

If you right-click an attribute element in the Object Browser and drag it into the Elements for this consolidation pane, a pop-up menu is displayed. The menu options are described below.

  • Replace selection: overwrites the highlighted element in the expression with the selected attribute element.

Depending on the expression, the entire expression may be overwritten. In this case, the expression itself rather than an element is highlighted in the Selected element pane.

  • Add to selection: uses the + operator to add the attribute element to the expression.

  • Combine with selection: uses the AND operator to join the attribute element to the expression. This option is available only when the selected element is from a different attribute than those already in the expression and the expression uses AND.

  • Replace in list: overwrites an element from the same attribute with the selected attribute element. This option is available only when the selected element is from an attribute already in the expression and the expression uses AND.
