MicroStrategy ONE

Consolidation Editor: Selected element pane

This area is where you work with consolidation element expressions. You can create, edit, clear, and validate expressions.

When you open the Consolidation Editor to create a new consolidation, the Selected element pane is not active. To activate the pane, either drag an attribute element into the Elements for this consolidation pane or click Click here to create a new consolidation element. To display a specific expression, select it in the Elements for this consolidation pane.

Create an expression by dragging and dropping an attribute element from the Object Browser into the Selected element pane. You can also type in the expression, or combine dragging-and-dropping with manually typing in the remainder of the expression.

If you right-click an attribute element and drag it into this pane, a pop-up menu displays common expressions. See Consolidation Editor: Right-click options for more information.

In addition to the actual area used to define the expression, the Selected element pane contains the following:

  • Click an arithmetic operator on the operator bar to insert the operator into the expression.

  • Click Validate to confirm that the expression is valid for use by the MicroStrategy engine. The validation status is also displayed along the bottom of the pane.

  • Click Clear to delete the entire expression and start over.

In addition to the arithmetic operators on the operator bar, you can use the logical operator AND. However, you cannot type AND into the expression; instead, you must drag and drop an attribute element into an existing expression to trigger the AND operator. The second attribute element cannot belong to the same attribute as the first, otherwise a plus sign (+) is used. For more details, see Creating consolidation element expressions.
