Resizing a graph report using auto arrange

When you view a report in the graph mode and set the font size for the axis label to a very large value, the graph size shrinks to accommodate the font size for the axis label. You can automatically resize the graph by using the Auto arrange option. This option can be accessed from the Graph menu of the Report Editor.

Consider the following example:

  1. Run the report US Revenues by Call Center, which is available in the MicroStrategy Tutorial project.

  2. From the Graph menu, select Graph Options. The Preferences dialog box opens.

  3. On the left, expand Vertical Bar Options, and select Layout.

  4. From the Type options, select True 3D Column.

  5. Click OK to accept your changes and return to the graph.

  6. Right-click the Category axis label (which displays Atlanta, Milwaukee, and so on) and select Format 3D Group Header. The Preferences dialog box opens.

  7. On the left, expand Category, then expand Axis Labels, and select Font.

  8. Change the font size to 100 and click OK to return to the graph. The graph shrinks to accommodate the enlarged font size.

  9. Select the Auto arrange option from the Graph menu to re-adjust the graph size.
