MicroStrategy ONE
Selecting a graph style
The advantage of graph reports is that they provide a visually synthesized view of a set of data, which allows for quick analysis. How effective that view is depends on the type of graph selected to display the information and the graph components included in that display (titles, labels, footnotes, and so on). MicroStrategy provides a number of graph report styles to meet your reporting needs. A graph style is the type of graph, such as vertical stacked, horizontal bipolar absolute, and so on.
Using a graph style allows you to apply a consistent look and feel to all your reports without having to change the configuration settings one by one.
The graph style you choose depends on the structure and number of objects on your report and your personal preferences. See Minimum Object Requirements for Each Graph Style in the Advanced Reporting Help for the minimum object requirements. Use the table as a guideline when you are selecting a graph style in which to view your graph report.
To select a graph style
-
Open the report for which you want to set a graph style.
-
If the report is a grid report, from the View menu select Graph View. The Graph Type dialog box opens. Click OK.
-
-
From the Graph menu, select Graph Type. See Minimum object requirements for each graph style and Description of available graph styles for minimum data requirements for each graph type and a description of each graph type.
-
Select a type from those listed on the left side of the dialog box. Based on the graph type you select, graph styles are displayed in reduced scale on the right side of the dialog box.
-
Select a graph style for the graph. The available graph styles depend on the graph type you chose in the step above. For example, for a Bar graph type, you can select Absolute, Stacked, Percent, or many other graph styles.
