Share Dashboards

You can share dashboards in your cloud environment. This allows other users to access them through a .mstr file, link, or shared environment.

Share and Manage Access to a Dashboard

  1. Open Workstation with the Navigation pane in smart mode.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click Dashboards.
  3. To generate a link for sharing a dashboard, right-click the dashboard, point to Share, and select Get Link. Copy the URL link to send it to other users.
    • To open the dashboard in Library, click Open in Browser.
  4. To send a dashboard to other user's libraries:

    1. Right-click the dashboard, point to Share, and select Library Access.
    2. Start typing a user or group name. Select the user or group from the suggestions list.
    3. Add each user or group who should have access to the dashboard.
    4. By default, the newly added users are emailed a notification. To not send it, clear the Notify newly added users via email check box.
    5. Click Done.
  5. To allow or deny certain types of access to users or user groups, right-click the dashboard, point to Share, and select Manage Security Access.
  6. To download a dashboard as a .mstr file, right-click the dashboard, point to Share, and select Download .mstr File.
    • The entire dashboard, including visualizations, filters, and associated datasets, is saved in the .mstr file.
    • You can share the dashboard by emailing the .mstr file to other users. They can open the file in their own environments and modify their version of the dashboard.

Send Multiple Dashboards to Other User's Libraries

  1. Open Workstation with the Navigation pane in smart mode.
  2. In the Navigation pane, click Dashboards.
  3. While pressing and holding the Ctrl key, left-click the dashboards to share. You can share up to 100 dashboards at the same time.
  4. Right-click the selected dashboards, point to Share, and select Library Access.
  5. Start typing a user or group name. Select the user or group from the suggestions list.
  6. Add each user or group who should have access to the dashboard.
  7. By default, the newly added users are emailed a notification. To not send it, clear the Notify newly added users via email check box.
  8. Click Done.

Share a Dashboard While Editing or Viewing

You can share the dashboard that you are editing or that you are viewing in Presentation Mode.

  1. Open the dashboard.

  2. To generate a link for sharing the dashboard, from the Share menu, select Get Link. Copy the URL link to send it to other users.

    • To open the dashboard in Library, click Open in Browser.

  3. To send the dashboard to other user's libraries:

    1. From the Share menu, select Library Access.
    2. Start typing a user or group name. Select the user or group from the suggestions list.
    3. Add each user or group who should have access to the dashboard.
    4. By default, the newly added users are emailed a notification. To not send it, clear the Notify newly added users via email check box.
    5. Click Done.
