All Objects View Dialog
The All Objects View dialog appears during the data import process. Use the All Objects View dialog to:
- View, search, and define objects across all tables that are being imported.
- Divide very large datasets into multiple segments, called partitions.
Access
To open the All Objects View dialog:
- Open the Preview Dialog.
- Click All Objects View .
Fields for Defining Data
Use the All Objects View dialog to display all the objects in all the tables that you are importing. If you want to view the objects in a single table, or preview the data in the table, use the Preview dialog.
You can perform the following tasks:
- Search for objects in all tables.
- Sort attributes or metrics. Select the drop-down arrow next to the attribute or metric headers and select Sort Ascending or Sort Descending.
- Quickly convert an attribute to a metric, or a metric to an attribute, by dragging an object from one side to the other.
- Quickly convert multiple objects at once. Press and hold the Ctrl key while selecting objects and drag them together.
To define an object, right-click it and choose one of the following:
- Change Data Type: Change the data type of the column. Select the type of data to use.
- Define Geography: Assign a geo role to the data column. Select the geo role to assign (for example, City, State, Latitude, etc.), the checkbox next to each attribute you want to automatically generate based on the data column, and click OK.
- Convert to Attribute: Define the object as an attribute.
- Convert to Metric: Define the object as a metric.
- Do Not Import: Exclude the object when importing your data.
- Rename: Rename the object with the name you enter.
- Map to Project Attribute: Map an imported attribute within a dataset to an existing project attribute and its corresponding attribute forms.
The Define Geography option is not available for data imported from Hadoop.
Fields for Partitioning Data
If you are importing very large datasets into Workstation, you can divide the dataset into multiple segments, called partitions.
The partitioning options on the All Objects View dialog include:
- Partition Attribute: The attribute ID of the attribute used to split the dataset.
- Number of Partitions: Number of segments to split your dataset into.
- Search Index: Enables the search index for the attribute.
