Viewing column sizing handles for Grid/Graphs

You can work with column widths and row heights in a Grid/Graph that is displayed as a grid. Column sizing handles allow you to manually adjust the size of the columns of a Grid/Graph. Column sizing handles are displayed automatically when the Grid/Graph is in fixed column width mode, although you can hide them. While you can view the handles if the Grid/Graph is in automatic column width mode, changes to column width that are made in automatic column width mode are not saved.

Prerequisites

To view or hide column sizing handles

  1. Open the document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Double-click the Grid/Graph to enable edit mode. A red hashed border displays around the Grid/Graph, and the menu options and toolbar change.

    • If the Edit icon is displayed in the upper left corner of the Grid/Graph, you can click the icon to enter edit mode.

    • If the Grid/Graph is a shortcut, you cannot edit it because it is linked to the original report. A message appears, allowing you to choose whether to unlink the shortcut. If you click OK, changes made to the original report are no longer passed to the Grid/Graph in the document.

  3. On the Grid menu, select View Column Handles. If the column handles were displayed, they are not hidden; if they were hidden, they are now displayed.

If the Grid/Graph is in automatic column width mode, a message is displayed reminding you that changes to column width that are made in this mode are not saved. If you choose, click Yes to switch to fixed column width mode, which allows you to use the handles to resize the columns and save the changes.

  4. To exit edit mode, press ESC.
