Editing Grid/Graphs in documents

Edit mode for a Grid/Graph provides many of the same options, such as totals and thresholds, for customizing the Grid/Graph as when you edit a report using the Report Editor. The editing options vary depending on how the Grid/Graph is being viewed—as a grid, a graph, or both a grid and a graph.

Editing changes the grid or graph as displayed in the Grid/Graph in the document; it does not change the original report. For this reason, if the Grid/Graph is linked to the original report as a shortcut, you cannot edit it. You can format the Grid/Graph container within the document, whether it is a shortcut or not. For instructions, see Formatting Grid/Graphs, which discusses borders, title bars, and quick switch, among other properties. For instructions to unlink a Grid/Graph shortcut, and more information on shortcuts in general, see Adding Grid/Graphs as shortcuts: Linking a Grid/Graph to its dataset.

This procedure assumes that the document contains a Grid/Graph. For instructions to add a Grid/Graph, see Displaying reports in documents: Grid/Graphs.

To edit a Grid/Graph

  1. Open a document in the Document Editor. (How?)

  2. Double-click the Grid/Graph to enable edit mode. A red hashed border displays around the Grid/Graph, and the menu options and toolbar change.

    • Editing changes the grid report or graph report as displayed in the Grid/Graph in the document; it does not change the original report. For this reason, if the Grid/Graph is linked to the original report as a shortcut, you cannot edit the Grid/Graph. You can format the Grid/Graph control within the document, whether it is a shortcut or not. For instructions, see Formatting Grid/Graphs, which discusses borders, title bars, and quick switch, among other properties. For instructions to unlink a Grid/Graph shortcut so that it is converted to standard Grid/Graph, and more information on shortcuts in general, see Adding Grid/Graphs as shortcuts: Linking Grid/Graphs to reports.
