Strategy ONE
Format Dialog Box for Metrics
Use the Format dialog to specify metric-level formatting. You can select different formatting options for metric column headers and values. When you use a metric, you can overwrite this metric-level formatting with formatting specific to that report, document, or dashboard.
Specify the following formatting options:
- Format the number display to determine how numeric data is displayed. For example, you can format numbers to appear as dollars and cents, as percentages, or even as scientific notation.
- Format the alignment to position the data on the grid inside their respective cells. For example, you can right justify the data, pad the data, and select whether to wrap text. You can also display the text horizontally or vertically (-90 Degrees) by selecting the Text Direction; by default this is automatically determined to best display the text.Format the font to select the font name, script, size, and color; whether the font is bold, underlined, or italicized; and whether to strike out the text.
- Format the borders to select the style and color of the border line. You can select which borders (top, bottom, left, and right) display, or hide all the borders.
- Format the background to specify background colors.
- Format
the graph color
to apply a background color for the metric when it is displays as
a series in a graph report. This is available for metric headers.
- By default, the graph color that you define for a metric overrides any default color schemes for the graph report, although you can disable this metric formatting. For more detailed instructions, see the Graphing chapter of the Advanced Reporting Help.
You can reset all changes and display the metric using its default formatting by clicking Clear Format. This clears all formatting for both headers and values.
