Exporting a report to a Microsoft Excel worksheet

Run the report to export. (For steps to run a report, see Running a report.)

If you want to configure export options, complete the following steps:

From the Data menu, choose Export Options. The Export Options dialog box opens.

Select MS Excel Worksheet from the Application drop-down menu. The options for exporting the report to a Microsoft Excel worksheet are displayed.

Click the General tab.

To automatically open the report in Excel after you export the report, select the Show application after exporting check box.

If you send a report to your History List with the Export this report automatically check box selected, and then read the report from your History List, the report is automatically exported to Excel.

To export the report with all the page-by fields expanded, select the Expand all page fields when exporting data check box.

Type the File name to export the report to.

Type the Location where you want the report to be exported.

To specify a macro to run before exporting the report, enter the macro in the Pre-macro field.

To specify a macro to run after exporting the report, enter the macro in the Post-macro field.

To specify additional general, formatting, error handling, and location options, click Advanced Options. For more information on these options, see Advanced Options for Exporting to Excel.

Click the Appearance tab.

Select which report elements (such as title, details, data, headers, and SQL) to export from the Exported fields list.

To define the order that the report elements are exported, select a report element in the Exported fields list, and click Up or Down to move the selected element.

To format the exported report as the grid report displays in MicroStrategy, select the Apply formatting check box.

If you clear the Apply formatting check box, you can select whether formatting and data, or only data, is exported, by clearing or selecting the Export only the raw data check box.

To use an Excel layout compatible with MicroStrategy 6.x and earlier, select the Use 6.x layout check box.

Click OK to return to the report.

On the Data menu, point to Export To, then choose MS Excel.
If you want the system to use the same file name and destination location, or other export options, each time you export a file, you can enter this information in the My Preferences area of MicroStrategy Developer. For details, see My Preferences dialog box: Reports tab, Export Options.
