MicroStrategy ONE

Using separate page headers and footers for layouts

By default, the page header and footer sections are shared for all layouts in the document. In Design View in MicroStrategy Developer, this is indicated in the name of the Page Header. You can instead choose to use different page sections for each layout, as described in the following procedure. When the page sections are shared, you can edit them in any layout. When they are not shared, any edits you make in a particular Page Header or Page Footer affect only the current layout.

If you choose to use a separate page header and footer for one layout, other layouts still use the shared page header and footer. For example, a document contains three layouts, which share the page header and footer by default. You can specify that Layout1 uses its own page header and footer. Layout2 and Layout3 still share the page header and footer. Alternatively, you can specify that all three layouts have their own page headers and footers.

For examples, see the Document Creation Help.

Prerequisite

The following procedure assumes that you have already created a document with multiple layouts. For instructions on creating a document, see Creating documents. For instructions on adding another layout, see Creating multi-layout documents.

To use a separate page header and footer for a layout

1. Open the document. (How?)

2. Select Document Properties from the Format menu. The Properties dialog box opens.

3. Select Layout.

4. Clear the Use shared page header/footer check box.

5. Click OK to return to the Document Editor.

Notice that the Page Header and Page Footer now do not display as (shared) in the layout area.
