MicroStrategy ONE
Time Series Dialog Box
You can define interval selectors for a Time Series widget using the Time Series dialog box. Interval selectors let users select the time period for which they want to view data in the widget, allowing them to analyze data at different levels of detail. You can add, rearrange, or delete interval selectors in a Time Series widget, as described below. You can also format the widget's colors and labels, and specify a custom axis scale.
For detailed steps to design a Time Series widget for display on an iPhone, iPad, or Android with MicroStrategy Mobile, see the MicroStrategy Mobile Administration Help.
Interval Tab
The following options are available:
- Interval Selector: The name of each
interval selector is displayed in the Interval Selector list, in the
order in which they are displayed in the widget. In addition, the
following options are available:
- Add: Create a new interval selector. An empty interval selector is created and displayed in the Interval Selector list. Select the appropriate options under Interval Properties to define the interval selector, as described below.
- Remove: Remove an interval selector from the widget.
- Move Up: Move an interval selector one space up in the list.
- Move Down: Move an interval selector one space down in the list.
- Interval Properties: Select options
to define an interval selector, as described below:
- Name: Type a name for the interval selector.
- Template: Select the control in the document that contains the time-based attribute you want to create the interval selector based on.
- Granularity: The granularity is automatically determined by the last (right-most) attribute on the Grid/Graph's rows.
- Interval Unit: Select the units in which you want to specify the length of the time interval. For example, to define a six-month interval, you can select Month as the interval unit.
- Interval Size: Type the number of units you want to include in the interval in the Interval size field. For example, if the Interval unit is defined as Month, you can type 6 to specify a six-month time interval.
You can display a summary of the definition of an interval selector in the bottom pane. To do so, click its name in the Interval Selector list.
Formatting Tab
The following options are available:
- Background: Select a color for the background color of the widget.
- Line and Text: Select a color for the color of the text and lines.
-
Series: Displays the color of each series. To change the color of a series, select a color from the corresponding palette.
The series is the data along the Y-axis of a graph report, which corresponds to the columns of a grid report. The series usually represents metrics.
- Background transparency: Select a level of transparency from the drop-down list. The higher the percentage, the more transparent the background is.
- Condense labels: Determine whether the axis labels are condensed, which means the widget allocates more space to the chart area than to the labels. By default, the checkbox is cleared.
- Custom
axis scale: Determine whether the
axis values are automatically calculated or use a custom scale. To
use a custom scale:
- Select the Custom axis scale checkbox.
- Type the Maximum axis value.
- Type the Minimum axis value.
