Insert Layout Dialog Box

You can add layouts to a document using the Insert Layout dialog box. Once you have added multiple layouts to the document, users can easily switch between layouts by clicking the tabs at the top of the document, making it easy to display related data.
MicroStrategy provides templates for document and dashboard-style document layouts, as well as the ability to import an existing document as a new layout. If you choose to import an existing document as a new layout, the formatting, controls, and any datasets the imported document makes use of are also included, and the imported document is displayed on a new layout tab. Steps are below to add a layout to a document.

To add a layout to a document
- Open the document in Design Mode or Editable Mode.
- From the Insert menu, select Layout. The Insert Layout dialog box opens.
- Do one of the following to create a new layout:
- To create a new layout using a dashboard-style document template, click the (Undefined variable: Company_ProductNames.Dossier)-style Layouts tab, then select a template.

To create a new layout using a document template, click the Document Layouts tab, then select a template.
You can select the iPhone Map Information Window template to quickly create a blank layout designed for use as an Information Window on a mobile device. For details on Information Windows, see the MicroStrategy Mobile Administration Help.
- To create a new layout using a saved document, click the Browse Documents tab. Browse to and select the saved document or Visual Insight dashboard that you want to import.
- Click OK. The new layout is added to the document.
