Report Details Properties Dialog Box: General Tab

You can choose whether to include or omit the following settings in the Report Details section on the General tab:

  • Report Description: Select whether to include the short description of the report in the Report Details section.
  • Prompt Details: Select whether to include the prompts on the report in the Report Details section.
  • Filter Details: Select whether to include the report filter, view filter, and report limits in the Report Details section.
  • Template Details: Select whether to include the objects on the report and the metric definitions in the Report Details section.

You can choose whether to include or omit the following settings in the Prompt section on the General tab:

  • Include Prompt Titles: Select an option from the drop-down list.
    • Inherit: Select whether to return to the default document or report setting for report prompt titles.
    • No Title or Index: Do not include the prompt title or index in the Prompt Details section.
    • Title and Index: Include both the prompt title and index in the Prompt Details section. The prompt title is defined when the prompt is created, and the index is a number indicating the order of the prompts in the datasets.
  • Replacement string for unanswered prompts: Select an option from the drop-down list:
    • Inherit: Select whether to return to the default document or report setting for unanswered prompts.
    • Blank: Leave the replacement string for unanswered prompts blank.
    • Prompt not answered: If you do not answer a prompt, then a message stating that the prompt has not been answered will display.
    • No Selection: If you do not select a prompt answer, then a message stating that no selection has been made will display.
    • All/None: If you do not answer the prompt, the word "All" or "None" is displayed. Whether the word "All" or "None" displays depends on the type of prompt. For example, an unanswered object prompt displays as "None", because no objects are selected. An unanswered filter definition prompt displays as "All" because the report is not filtered and therefore all the objects appear on the report.
  • Show attribute name for Attribute Element Prompts: Select an option from the drop-down list:
    • Inherit: Select whether to return to the default document or report setting for attribute element prompts.
    • Never: Do not display the attribute name in the attribute element prompt for a report.
    • Once: Display the attribute name in the attribute element prompt only once.
    • Repeated before each element: Display the attribute name in the attribute element prompt with each attribute element.
  • Include unused prompts: Select whether to include unused prompts, which occur when you drill on a Grid/Graph that contains a prompt. The resulting child report, which you can use as a dataset, can display or omit the prompt details from the parent.

You can also choose whether to use delimiters around report object names in the Miscellaneous section on the General tab. In this instance, delimiters are special characters around the report objects, which set the objects off from the other text. These are the options:

  • Use delimiters around report object names:
    • Inherit: Select whether to return to the default document or report setting for report object names.
    • Never: Do not include any delimiters around report objects.
    • Always: Include any selected delimiters around report objects.
    • Only when the name contains special characters: Include selected delimiters around the report objects when the object name contains special characters.

      Special characters are characters other than a - z, A - Z, 0 - 9, #, _, and . (period).

  • Use aliases in Filter Details: Select whether aliases replace object names in the filter details.
