Create Email Subscriptions

Starting in MicroStrategy ONE (December 2024), you can add dynamic text (using data from attributes and metrics) to email subjects and body text. You can also edit the file names of content added to your subscription including dynamic text, similar to email subjects and body text.

You can use MicroStrategy ONE (December 2024) to create custom segments of customers based on real-time data. For example, you can tailor marketing campaigns to specific customer needs and behaviors. You can also leverage this update to design dashboards that adjust based on user roles or preferences, ensuring end users see the most relevant information. Utilize dynamic attributes and metrics to ensure real-time categorization of data.

MicroStrategy Workstation allows you to create email subscriptions through Distribution Services. You can select one or more dashboards, documents, or reports in a variety of formats, define a schedule and message, and specify settings for the subscription object.

  1. Open the Workstation window with the Navigation pane in smart mode.

  2. In the Navigation pane, inside the Administration group, click , next to Subscriptions.

  3. Choose an environment and project, then click Select.

  4. In Name, enter a descriptive name for the subscription.

  5. From the Type drop-down list, choose Email.

  6. To add content to the subscription, click in the Content pane. Select up to six pieces of content to add to one subscription, including dashboards, documents, and reports. The content must all come from the same project.
  7. Click Select.
  8. In the Content pane, click More next to a dashboard, document, or report:
    • File Name: Starting in MicroStrategy ONE (December 2024), you can edit the file name of your content. You can include macros, attributes, and metrics that dynamically change based on your parameters.
    • Format: Change the delivery format. Supported formats for attachments include PDF and .mstr files.

      Choose HTML to send the content inside the body of the email. You can add the same content multiple times and choose different delivery formats for each.

  9. In the Recipients pane, select the recipients of the subscription.
  10. In the Delivery pane, choose from time-based schedule objects or event-based triggers. Depending on your environment, you can also choose an expiration date for the subscription in Stop After or Expire on and Timezone.
  11. Use Subject and Message to define the subject line and associated message body. In both the subject and message of the email, you can include macros and starting in MicroStrategy ONE (December 2024), attributes and metrics that dynamically change based on the recipient, project, and other parameters. To choose from a list of available macros, attributes, and metrics, enter {& or {.
  12. To adjust subscription-level settings, click . Here you can allow recipients to change settings or unsubscribe, set the contact security level, as well as choose the compression and zip file password for all non-HTML files.

  13. Enter a descriptive name for the subscription in Name.
  14. You can choose to Send the subscription immediately after saving.
  15. Click Save.
