MicroStrategy ONE

Disabling metric subtotals

Before you begin

You should be familiar with metrics and metric subtotals.

You can disable totaling on a metric, if needed. For example, totals on an inventory metric or another non-aggregatable metric are irrelevant and should not be displayed on a report.

To disable metric subtotals, you set the total subtotal function to None and clear all the available subtotals for the metric. If you set the total subtotal function to None but do not clear the available subtotals, grand totals are unavailable in reports; in this scenario, the only way that you can show grand totals is by defining subtotals. If you clear the Available subtotals for metrics list and set a total subtotal function, only that function is available for subtotal calculation.

To disable metric subtotals

  1. Open the metric in the Metric Editor. (How?)

  2. Click the Subtotals/Aggregation tab.

  3. Select None from the drop-down list in Total subtotal function.

If you set Total subtotal function to None but do not clear the available subtotals, grand totals are unavailable in reports except by applying subtotals.

  4. Clear the Available subtotals for metric list by clicking <<.

If you clear the Available subtotals for metrics list and set a Total subtotal function, only that function is available for subtotal calculation.

  5. Click Save and Close to save the metric and close the Metric Editor.
