Introduction to Exporting a Document with Multiple Layouts
If your document contains multiple layouts, you can choose to export either:
- The entire document
- Only the layout currently being viewed by the user.
For specific information on how multi-layout documents are exported to different file formats, see the sections below.
Exporting a document with multiple layouts to an Excel file
When you export a document with multiple layouts to Excel, you can choose to:
- Export the entire document. Each layout is placed into a separate worksheet in the spreadsheet; the worksheets are named for the document, not the layouts. For example, if the name of the document is Multilayout Example, the name of the Excel spreadsheet will also be Multilayout Example. If the document contains two layouts, the names of the Excel worksheets will be Multilayout Example, 1 of 2 and Multilayout Example, 2 of 2.
- Export only the current layout displayed in Web. The name of the single worksheet is the name of the document.
In Excel 2000, all layouts are exported into one worksheet. Use Excel 2003, Excel XP, and newer versions to export layouts to separate worksheets. You can change the Excel version used to export files by changing the Excel Options user preference to Excel XP, Excel 2003, and newer versions. Exporting a document with multiple layouts to a PDF file
When you export a document with multiple layouts to a PDF file, you can choose to:
- Export the entire document. Each layout starts on a new page. If the PDF will be viewed on a Kindle or Nook, you should export all layouts so that the Kindle or Nook user can view all the data.
- Export only the current layout displayed in Web.
By default, the layouts are displayed as bookmarks in the PDF, whether you export all layouts or only the current layout. The document designer can choose whether bookmarks are included in the PDF, as described in How to Specify Export Options in a Document.
