How to Specify Export Options in a Document

You can specify default exporting options for a document, or prompt users to make these choices. For example:

  • If your document is grouped, you can choose to export the entire document or only the selected group element. Page-by allows you to view the document by a selected group element. For information on grouping and page-by, including examples, see the Grouping and Sorting chapter in the Document Creation Help.
  • If your document contains multiple layouts, you can choose to export the entire document or only the layout currently being viewed by the user. For more information on how layouts are exported to Excel, see the Document Creation Help.
  • If your document will be displayed on a Kindle or Nook, export the entire document (all pages and all layouts), so that the Kindle or Nook user can view all the data. For more information about designing documents for these readers, see the Document Creation Help. For information about transferring PDFs to the Nook or Kindle, and using them there, refer to the Nook or Kindle product documentation.

To specify the export options in a document

  1. Open the document in Design Mode or Editable Mode.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Document Properties.
  3. From the left, click Export.
  4. In the General area, specify whether you want to export all layouts or only the current layout by selecting one of the following:

      • To export the current layout, select Current Layout only.

      • To export only the page currently displayed, clear the Expand page-by checkbox.
    • If you want users to be prompted to provide export options each time they export, select the Prompt User on Export checkbox. The Export Dialog Box is displayed.
