Deploy MicroStrategy for Tableau on WebSphere

The following steps are for deploying MicroStrategyForTableau.war on WebSphere 8.5.

  1. Start WebSphere.
  2. Go to the WebSphere Application Server administrative console page. For example, https://localhost:9043/ibm/console/login.do.
  3. Enter your credentials and log in.
  4. On the left, expand Applications > New Application.
  5. Select New Enterprise Application.
  6. Browse for and select the provided the MicroStrategyForTableau.war file on your local machine.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select Fast Path and click Next.
  9. If necessary, provide a location for where it should install the .war file and click Next.
  10. Confirm that the Map modules to servers checkbox is selected and click Next.
  11. Confirm that the Map virtual hosts for Web modules checkbox is selected and click Next.

  12. Provide the context root for the war file being deployed and click Next.

    The connector is accessible from this specified location.

  13. Select the metadata-complete attribute checkbox and click Next.
  14. Confirm all fields are correct and click Finish.
  15. Save the changes to the master configuration.
  16. On the left, go to Applications > Application Types > WebSphere enterprise application

  17. Select the deployed application and click Start.

    Once the application is successfully started, the connector can be used by entering the following link in the Tableau Web Data Connector: http(s)://<web-server>:<port>/<connect-path>/.
