Displaying and hiding headers in Grid/Graphs

You can choose to hide or display column headers and/or row headers in a Grid/Graph displayed as a grid. By default, both column and row headers are displayed.

Hiding the column headers can be helpful when you combine multiple Grid/Graphs vertically. The absence of column headers confers the appearance of a single Grid/Graph. For an example, see the Grid/Graphs chapter of the Document Creation Help.

Prerequisites

This procedure assumes that the document contains a Grid/Graph. For instructions to add a Grid/Graph, see Displaying reports in documents: Grid/Graphs.
To access grid options, the Grid/Graph must be displayed as a grid or as both a grid and a graph. (Grid options apply only to the grid portion of a Grid/Graph, not the graph portion.) For instructions, see Viewing Grid/Graphs as grids or Viewing Grid/Graphs as grids and graphs simultaneously.

To hide or display column or row headers

Open the document in the Document Editor. (How?)
Double-click the Grid/Graph to enable edit mode. A red hashed border displays around the Grid/Graph, and the menu options and toolbar change.
- If the Edit icon is displayed in the upper left corner of the Grid/Graph, you can click the icon to enter edit mode.
- If the Grid/Graph is a shortcut, you cannot edit it because it is linked to the original report. A message appears, allowing you to choose whether to unlink the shortcut. If you click OK, changes made to the original report are no longer passed to the Grid/Graph in the document.
On the Grid menu, select Options. The Grid Options dialog box opens.
Select the General tab.
The Show row headers check box determines whether row headers are displayed. By default, they are displayed and this check box is selected. To hide them, clear the Show row headers check box.
The Show column headers check box determines whether column headers are displayed. By default, they are displayed and this check box is selected. To hide them, clear the Showcolumnheaders check box.
Click OK to return to the Document Editor.
To exit edit mode, press ESC.
