Steps to allow metric level formatting on a report

Metric level formatting is typically used for number formatting only, that is, currency, percentage, date, and so on. For other types of metric level formatting to display on a report, you must change settings in the report, as specified in the following procedure.

This does not apply to the metric graph color, which is used when a metric is displayed as a series in a graph. By default, the graph color defined at the metric level is applied in the graph report, although you can change this behavior. For instructions to change the default, as well as background information on the metric graph color, see Defining a graph color for metrics.

  1. Format the metric as desired. (How?)

  2. Open the report containing the metric to be formatted.

You can also format metrics on a template, in the Template Editor. The remaining steps are the same.

  3. To use the data (or values) formatting from the metric level:

Right-click a metric on the grid, point to Formatting, then point to All Metrics and select Clear All.

All the metric values on the report now appear as they were formatted in the Metric Editor.

  4. To use the header formatting from the metric level:

    • From the Format menu, point to Columns, and then select Values. The Format Cells dialog box opens.

This assumes that the metrics are placed on the columns. If they are on the rows, select Rows from the Format menu.

    • For any formatting values that you want to appear on the report, select <default> or Use defaults. For specific instructions, choose from the following:

  5. To retain the new formatting, save the report. (How?)
