Editing base formulas

A base formula allows you to reuse the formula in other metric definitions, instead of retyping or rebuilding it. When you use the base formula in a metric, the base formula is linked to the metric. Any changes made to the base formula are also made to the formula in the metric.

Prerequisite

This procedure assumes you have already created a base formula.

To edit a base formula

  1. Open the base formula using one of the following methods:

    • In MicroStrategy Developer, double-click the base formula.

    • In a metric that uses the base formula, select Formula in the Metric component panel (located under the heading "Metric (metric name) is defined as"). Click Edit in the Definition pane.

  2. Make any necessary changes to the functions, operators, and data of the formula.

  3. Click Save and Close.
