How to Add Additional Environments to a Platform Analytics Deployment
An environment is defined as a metadata repository and a cluster of Intelligence servers. To add a new environment to an existing Platform Analytics deployment requires enabling the Intelligence server to send telemetry logs to the Telemetry Server(s) and populating the Platform Analytics Repository with the current state of the metadata objects. These steps are independent and can be performed in any order.
The initial load of metadata objects can take several hours depending on the size of the metadata. If the process gets interrupted while server is sending initial load of data then the user must Re-trigger the Initial Load of Object Telemetry.
The following information should be collected prior to configuration:
-
Telemetry Server(s) Hostname(s) and Port(s) for the existing Platform Analytics environment
How to collect this information:- Connect to Command Manager on the existing Intelligence Server/metadata which is logging telemetry to Platform Analytics.
- Execute the command:
LIST PROPERTIES FOR SERVER CONFIGURATION;
- The Hostname(s) and Port(s) are under Messaging Services Configuration. For example, 127.0.0.1:9092
- A project source to the new Intelligence Server environment which you wish to monitor.
-
The username and password for a MicroStrategy user which has the following privileges:
- Use Command Manager
- Configure server basic
This process assumes Platform Analytics has been fully installed and configured to processes Intelligence Server telemetry.
Reference the following sections for assistance during the configuration process:
- Enable Telemetry Logging for Intelligence Servers When Using Single Node Telemetry
- Enable Telemetry Logging for Intelligence Service When Using a Remote Platform Analytics Warehouse
- Enable Telemetry Logging for Intelligence Servers When Using High Throughput or Advanced Architecture
- Load Object Telemetry to the Platform Analytics Data Repository
